#blaineweek | January 2nd: Why do you love Blaine?

I feel like talking about it, because I never really think about why, you know? At the beginning it was probably because he seemed to be the only sane character on Glee, not too over the top and not completely egotistical, but once he started showing his weaknesses and issues I completely fell in love with him, because in my opinion he overcomes all of them spectacularly. They never define him. He thinks his father doesn’t accept him and he’s been bullied badly, but he’s still proud of being who he is and he isn’t afraid to question himself. He bottles up his emotions and tries to avoid a fight until he can’t and then he says all the wrong things. Sometimes he’s selfish, sometimes he gives up everything for love. He fucking shines when he does what he loves and he works hard to get there and be that good. He makes mistakes and tries to make up for them if it kills him. He’s measured and also ridiculous, he’s fierce and sweet, he’s angry and accepting, he’s open and scared, he’s brave and conflicted, he’s often lonely and he’s still so kind and loving. He’s complicated like a character should be, even if this is Glee we’re talking about. So, uh, why do I love Blaine? Because he’s the only character on Glee that feels real to me. His mistakes are ones I’m afraid to make, some of his issues resonate with me (hi daddy issues, hi fear of being alone and unheard), not to mention all the bullying which I never experienced, and he still manages to be his brilliant self, unashamed and brave… and it’s just really admirable to me.
My TUMBLR! :)
